Heading South

Setting off from Long Island today. Busy packing up the van and preparing for, what feels like, the first real leg of the journey. Here's our rough route:

We may overnight in Gettysburg for a bit of historical wallowing then onto the Skyline Drive in Virginia. All those in Charlottesville VA here we come!

There & Back

Polaroid Everybody all at once!
A trip to Montauk Point is in order after laying in until almost noon. The land all around the lighthouse is rapidly slipping into the water under the relentless pounding of the waves. We have fun on the swing set, skipping across the boulders, chasing the waves and walking along the ever moving cliff tops. [VIDEO].
A feast of nachos is prepared and an evening of painting and confused dabbling with mind bending video projections ensues [VIDEO].

It's sad to say goodbye but Thanks Giving waits for no-one so we are soon on the road again towards Huntington. Maybe we will be seeing Randal again on the West Coast in 2008!

Thanks Giving day is the feast one would expect. Especially nice to be part of a traditional family affair. The day after sees Christy and I hiking around Cold Spring Harbour. Good to be out and about walking off the previous days excess and soaking up the blue skies and sunshine.

The journey south will start for real this coming week. Strangely enough I'll be taking the train back to Omega this weekend to finish up some business. See you there if you are about.

Off to Montauk

A day of rest included a nice afternoon stroll around Caumsett State Historic Park. Lots of nice woodland pathways and rocky shores to amble along and enjoying the prettiness to be had.
Christy x 2 Ahoy!
Then it is off on the road once again to see Randal who is hiding at the very tip of Long Island painting away in inspirational solitude [VIDEO]. He's spending a month in retreat, tapping into his deepest depths and translating it all onto canvas. It is a straightforward journey along Route 27/Montauk Highway. One stop for gas and another to play with the large vegetables and we are there. Great to see Mr Roberts again - even though it's been less than two weeks since he left Omega. His cabin/hut/house is quite cosy and we spend a pleasant evening in front of a blazing log fire roasting chestnuts, philosophizing and the like.

Getting Moving

We spent our last night at Omega camped down by the lake. It was a tad chilly but the view of the star studded sky was beautiful at three in the morning whilst taking a pee. A frantic morning of packing/stacking/rejecting/accepting/stuffing/hiding/recycling and the like led to a 2:15pm exit from the campus.

Bye!!!Times Square

So with a tear in the eye we pulled off leaving Omega a memory in the rear view mirror. The Dolphin chugged along quite nicely dealing with the busy metropolitan traffic and delivering us to Long Island in good time to hit the panic button and rush for the train station. Why you may ask? Well.....it turned out that the Ani DiFranco concert Christy had tickets for happened to be on Saturday night and not Sunday as she had been thinking for the past few weeks. So, bleary eyed, we caught the next train and headed into New York!
Ani

It was a great show with a good mix of old and new material (so I was told).
Here's a sample sample for you:
